Kyselina kávová jako nový fluorescenční marker kvality nápojů
Vodová, Veronika
The work was focused on the study of the photochemical behaviour of caffeic acid (KK) with focus on the evaluation of quality of beverages. This organic acid is found in various beverages of natural origin, such as grape wines, juices, or teas. KK shows a very interesting photochemical behaviour, which is influenced by the environment in which it is found. If the quality of drinks changes, for example from the point of view of punching, the concentration of KK and the reaction conditions will naturally change as well. If such samples are exposed to UV radiation (starting photochemical reactions) and then is recorded fluorescence, which can be used to distinguish the sample from each other. Due to the complexity of this issue, this work is divided into two parts. The first (overview) part of this work contains important information about KK from different perspectives (occurrence, metabolism, effects etc.). The second (practical) part this work focused on fluorescence monitoring of KK standard under different conditions after UV irradiation (effect of UV exposure time, effect of pH of the environment and effect of phosphate buffer concentration). Based on the results, it was clearly demonstrated that the fluorescence properties of KK (photochemical behaviour) are strictly dependent on the pH, UV radiation time, the concentration of KK used and the chemical composition of the drink. These results suggest that KK can be considered as a fluorescent marker of beverage quality. To test this hypothesis will need to be analysed a larger number of real samples and statistically evaluated.
The influence of precipitation on shallow mineral water abstraction
Hlaváčová, Michaela ; Hrkal, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Procházka, Vladimír (referee)
This study focuses on the influence of precipitation on shallow catchments of mineral springs in the special area of Františkovy Lázně. The thesis was made on the basis of the data provided by the company Spa Františkovy Lázně a.s.. The interdependent relations between yield springs, precipitations, atmospheric pressure and the content of free CO2 were studied. These relations were observed onto six springs - František, Luční, Nový, Solný, Železnatý and Žofie. The precipitations were compared with the yield of individual springs. The season was proved by three springs (František, Železnatý and Žofie). Retention of the precipitation was determined for springs František, Solný, Železnatý and Žofie. Considering more than half a year delay, we cannot claim that the precipitations should have a major influence on the dotation of mineral springs. The downtrend was founded for the free CO2 in all researched resources. Significant indirect relation was found using the correlation coefficient between atmospheric pressure and free CO2.
Relations of the carbon dioxide occurrence and geologic conditions of the Cheb basin
Pavlát, Jan ; Datel, Josef (advisor) ; Hrkal, Zbyněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis describes the area of the Cheb basin which is situated in the Western Bohemia, and shows the geological, tectonic, hydrogeological structure of this area. The main feature of the bachelor thesis is a CO2 emission in the Cheb basin, near the village Dolní Částkov but it also describes the occurrence of mineral waters in the vicinity of the chosen lokality. Furthermore, the bachelor thesis deals with the emanation of gases in groundwaters. The bachelor thesis describes the properties and occurrence of CO2. At the end of the bachelor thesis, there are results of my measurements in a regular network of points with a device Meopta DI-2 654-03, which serves for an air sampling and measures the concentration of CO2 expressed in percentages. Key words: carbon dioxide, the Cheb basin, geological conditions, mineral water
Drinking regime in adolescence
ŘÍHOVÁ, Eliška
The bachelor thesis deals with the fluid intake at the age of adolescence. The aim of the work was to evaluate the quality and the total amount of fluids received at the age of adolescence. The thesis is divided into two parts, theoretical and practical. The theoretical part deals with the influence of fluids on the teenager body, is attentive to diseases caused by surplus or deficiency of fluid intake, deals with the composition of fluids and their effects on the organism. The research was made through a questionnaire survey that examines the total fluid intake, the composition and types (tea, coffee, milk and soups) received in 24 hours, the most frequent daytime of fluid consumption and their intake depending on the activity of the teenagers. The obtained data were evaluated and then graphs and charts were created. Research shows that more than a half of respondents have high fluid intake. About one third has a physiological fluid intake and one fifth has a low fluid intake. Respondents mostly drink drinking water in fluid intake. On the contrary, teenagers drink less coffee and energy drinks. They mostly consume instant coffee and at least Viennese melange, ice coffee, 3 in 1, Irish coffee and americano. The most popular type of tea is fruit tea and the least popular is herbal tea. More than a half of respondents consume half-fat milk and at least low-fat milk. The most popular soup is chicken or beef broth, the least popular are broccoli and garlic soup. The most respondents often consume fluids at home in the afternoon and evening, at least during lunch. The fluid intake is also influenced by sports activity. Most of the teenagers are engaged in some sports, a small number of teenagers do not any sport at all. The most popular sport is football, the least popular is volleyball.

Mineralogical speciation of the radium isotopes in Karlovy Vary hot spring sediments: Results of the selective dissolution
Supiňková, Taťána ; Goliáš, Viktor (advisor) ; Smrček, Stanislav (referee)
Thermal waters in Karlovy Vary are characterized by carbonate sedimentation in places of their emergence. These sediments contain radium. Radium bond in every type of sinter (aragonite, calcite) has been investigated experimentally by acid sinter dissolution. It has been found out, that radium can join dissoluble fraction in both sinter types . The original hypothesis that radium can bond only aragonite-type of sinter has been refuted. Additional experiments have been processed using synthetic radiobarite. Present radium in radiobarite can be partly dissoluted using acids. If radium was incorporated in radiobarite (it is known from locality Vřídlo in Karlovy Vary and elsewhere) then maybe it would be partly dissoluted in experiments.
The position of the Teplice Spa in the spa industry with a focus on children's treatment
Křivanová, Daniela ; Mlejnková, Lena (advisor) ; Valentová, Jana (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to analyse and evaluate the position of the Teplice Spa in the spa industry with a focus on children's treatment. The spa towns chosen for a comparison were Janské Lázně and Klimkovice which focus on the same indications for children as well as the Teplice Spa. The theoretical part introduces the concepts related to the spa tourism and deals with the children's treatment in the Czech Republic. The practical part deals with the analysis of the Teplice Spa and the comparison with the chosen spa towns. The outcome of this thesis will be recommendations based on the analysis of the spa facilities.
